01.24.11

Today is not too cold, but it is overcast. Slight winds coming from the west. Chance of snow in the night: 40%

Today's Horoscope: Sagittarius constellation contains a dimming star: bad news for your portfolio--if you have one.

Everything that needs to be said about putting down smoking has already been said the last time I quit smoking. I was successful for about 3 months until I relapsed. I cannot say this current attempt has any special gravity that makes it "the one" but so far the withdrawal has been comparably mild. That is until yesterday. I don't want to go on record saying that I quit or that I'm quitting. I will go on record saying that this abstinence has two weeks left in its three week trial period.

I was thinking about my beloved alma mater, DePaul University. The last DePaul party I was at was a bit of a zoo. There's something about these obscenely privileged animals that reminds me always that the rich will always get richer and the poor will always be subservient in some way to whatever stupid fad they adopt.

I know of a lot of fifth year DePaulians; I know of a lot of people who don't look forward to going to classes. I also know of a lot of people who struggle everyday to pay off debt, people who have genuine passion for their fields of study, people who aren't lucky enough to have a rich parental financier backing their insipid and useless academic existence.
