01.16.11

Today is kinda cold. Snowed earlier. Hyep--that's about it.

Today's Horoscope: We may have killed two Seahawks today. If modern medicine can't get them back on the field then astrology certainly will (not.)

It was an exciting game. I don't know enough about football to level some readable amateur sports writing. We won.

Album of the Week: It's a three-way tie. Yes, I have not been consistent with this feature for at least three weeks so I'm going to give the award out three times and try and remember to do this every Sunday.

(In no specific order)

1) Skeletal Lamping --Of Montreal. Sick quality. In a way they kind of remind me of MSI if MSI were good. (That's a cheap shot against MSI, I know, whatever.)

2) Dye it Blonde --Smith Westerns. I just got this one. It's fresh and I think it is a few days behind its official release date. Maybe I shouldn't write about this one for legal reasons.

3) Play it Strange --The Fresh and Onlys. This one's been on the back burner for awhile, I've been neglectful. This is stupid because their other two releases are some of my favorite albums, they get cycled in pretty damn frequently. Tropical Island Suite came up on shuffle and PIS is now going to be something of a fixture.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

1) Get Up With It --Miles Davis. If I could ever meet MD I'd smack him in the face as hard as I could because I know he'd cop some sour asshole attitude with me.

2) NYCtaper.com's Top 25 Live Performances --VA. I've got to get this on my Ipod before I hit the road in like, 30 minutes. Is that enough time?

3) The Dirt Merchant's LP --The Dirt Merchants. I don't know what's on it or when it's coming out or if it even exists. But I'm still looking forward to hearing it.

4) Abbey Road --The Beatles. I've been trying to get that epic Sun King through Her Majesty sequence down on the guitar. I am having limited success.

The guitar is an insturment whose strings are taut. I am glad they have no biological features because being pulled like that must hurt. Tuning up would be like some medieval torture routine.
